About Xtina

xtina lambI’m an artist living in Chatham and working in Rochester, north Kent. My main art medium is printmaking and book art, but I trained in fine art media and create works using a variety of techniques. Community engagement and public realm projects form a key part of my work too.

My name is pronounced ‘Christina’, I just spell it with an X.

I run Medway Fine Printmakers, a not-for-profit print studio giving the public access to an impressive range of artist-owned presses and printmaking equipment for paper and textile works. I collaborate with other artists on courses, events, projects, commissions and exhibitions and have built up a supportive community of printmakers.

I’m an accomplished screen printer and along with thermofax, Risograph and Gelli monoprinting, I teach screen printing classes frequently. I’m also the technician during open access sessions and have a good knowledge of all the printmaking methods employed at the studio including relief, intaglio, collagraph, photopolymer and heat press. In the past I was known for Print Gocco work.

In 2014 I founded INTRA, a friendly multi-disciplinary arts venue in Rochester where the print studio now lives. I’m responsible for the development and curation of creative workshops, events programme and studio management, marketing and communications, building audiences, policy making, and overall direction of the space.

I have an Etsy shop Printed Wonders where I sell printed textiles and paper products featuring my illustrations. These include home décor, stationery and wrapping paper. I also make bespoke vinyl stickers and wall / window décor created with an electronic cutter and ‘thermofax’ printing screens from custom designs for people all over the world.

In October 2018 I started the Wave project, an arts club for young people at raised risk of suicide, with funding from Kent County Council and Medway Council (Saving Lives – Suicide Prevention Innovation Fund). It’s still running, and we welcome self-referrals from people aged 15 – 24.

I love coming up with themed activities for adults and children at events and festivals indoors and out. I’ve worked with Medway Council, LV21, Cohesion Plus, Gravesham Arts, the Diamond Jubilee Pageant, Christies South Kensington, Kent Association for the Blind, The Barbican, Historic Royal Palaces, Clerkenwell Design Festival, Paint Jam London, The Huguenot Museum, Rochester Guildhall Museum, Rochester Cathedral and many more, inventing novel workshops from screen printing souvenir pennants to secret quill pen written letters wax sealed with handmade stamps. I’ve developed printmaking classes for independent schools and colleges including Haileybury, Kings Rochester, and Rochester Independent College, delivered creative projects in mainstream schools and run a regular print class with home educated children at INTRA.
